Edmond

Edmond,city (1990 pop. 52,315), Oklahoma co., central Okla.; settled 1889. It is a trading center with a huge oil field and small industries that manufacture concrete, petroleum products, and other goods. The city's population nearly tripled from 1970 to 1990. The Univ. of Central Oklahoma is in Edmond. South of the city in Memorial Park is the grave of WileyPost, who died with WillRogersin a plane crash near Point Barrow, Alaska, in 1935.
