Great Bend

Great Bend,city (1990 pop. 15,427), seat of Barton co., central Kans., on a bend in the Arkansas River; settled and inc. 1872. It is a trade and shipping center for a wheat and oil region. Alfalfa pellets and farm machinery are manufactured. Great Bend was located on the oldSanta Fe Trail.
