Eleazar ĕlēā´zər [key], in the Bible. 1Son of Aaron. 2Keeper of the Ark of the Covenant. 3Mighty man of David. 4Man in the genealogy in the first chapter of the Gospel of St. Matthew. 5One of the chief martyrs in the Maccabean period. An old man, he refused to eat swine's flesh.
