戈德斯伯勒，马里兰州参议员菲利普斯·李;1865年8月6日出生于马里兰州萨默塞特县的安妮公主;在公立和私立学校接受教育;学习法律;1886年获得律师资格，并在马里兰州的剑桥开始执业;对银行业也感兴趣;Stateâs 1892-1898年多尔切斯特县律师;1898-1899年马里兰州财政审计长;1902-1911年，马里兰地区的国内税收官员;1912-1915年任马里兰州州长; elected as a Republican to the United States Senate and served from March 4, 1929, to January 3, 1935; was not a candidate for reelection; unsuccessful candidate for nomination as Governor of Maryland in 1934; member of the Republican National Committee 1932-1936; resumed the practice of law; appointed a director of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation by President Franklin Roosevelt 1935-1946; died in Baltimore, Md., October 22, 1946; interment in the old churchyard of Christ Episcopal Church, Cambridge, Md.
