普伦蒂斯·梅伦，马萨诸塞州国会议员(1764-1840)

MELLEN,状态马萨诸塞州参议员;出生于马萨诸塞州伍斯特郡斯特林。1764年10月11日;1784年毕业于哈佛大学;学习法律;1788年获得律师资格，开始在马萨诸塞州的斯特林和布里奇沃特执业。在新罕布什尔州的多佛;1791年左右搬到缅因州的比德福德(1820年以前是马萨诸塞州的一个地区)，从事法律工作;1806年左右在缅因州波特兰定居;1808-1809年，1817年马萨诸塞州执行委员会成员;1817年当选总统;1817年至1836年，缅因州不伦瑞克鲍登学院理事; elected to the United States Senate to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Eli P. Ashmun and served from June 5, 1818, to May 15, 1820, when he resigned; upon the admission of the State of Maine into the Union in 1820 became chief justice of the supreme court of that State and served until his resignation in 1834; member and chairman of the commission to revise and codify the public statutes of Maine in 1838; died in Portland, Maine, December 31, 1840; interment in Western Cemetery.
